Waneta I. Addington

Waneta I. Addington, 95, Tipton, died at 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2006 at Autumnwood Extended Care in Tipton.  She was born September 19, 1910, in Milford, Illinois to Calvert W. & Bertha (Baldwin) Graves.  Waneta lived in Indianapolis from 1910 - 1935.  On April 20, 1935, she married Dr. Robert J. Collins and he preceded her in death.  She then married Forest Keith Addington on September 2, 1971, and he died on December 18, 1999.

She worked as the head librarian at the Tipton County Public Library, retiring in 1972.  Waneta was a member of the West Street Christian Church and the Rosary Chapter of Easter Star.  She was a 75-year member of Delta Delta Delta and belonged to Tri-Kappa, Embroidery Circle and Kempton Women's Study Club.

Waneta graduated from Butler University in 1932 with a BS in Education and in 1960 with an MA in Library Science.

She is survived by two sons, James B. Collins and wife Margaret, Indianapolis and William Edward Collins and wife Darlene, Tipton; two step-children, Forest E. Addington and Catherine Franklin;  three grandchildren, Sally Morris, Nancy Yingst, and Warren Smith; five great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Lyle Smith & Ryan Smith.

Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Susan M. Cameron presiding and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
