Jean Moon Bronson

Jean Moon Bronson, 86, Tipton, went home to be with the Lord at 5:45 p.m. Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008.  She was born September 30, 1921 in Tipton to Ernie & Dorothy (Wilhelm) Moon.  She graduated with Honors from Tipton High School in 1939.  On December 30, 1939, she married William Bronson and he died August 2, 1973.

She has two sisters, Evelyn (Moon) Planalp and husband Dale of Tipton and Betty (Moon) Steele and husband Lloyd of Eaton Rapids, MI

She had three children, the late Larry Bronson, and wife the late Patty (Brown) Bronson, Sharon (Bronson) Foland, and husband Greg Foland of Kokomo, and Karen (Bronson) Angell of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Bill Bronson and wife Cheryl of Tipton, Danielle (Foland) Heyer and husband Travis of Downers Grove, IL, Susie (Bronson) Hussong and husband Andy of Elwood, Ron Angell and wife Lianne of Jacksonville, FL, Gina Angell of Greenwood and Brad Foland of Fishers;  seven great-grandchildren, Blake Heyer, Korbin, Kurtis, Kaden and Kellen Hussong, Austin Angell, and Brady Fernandez.

She is also survived by four nieces and nephews, Neil Planalp and wife Cheri of Tipton, Jayne (Planalp) Day and husband Bob of Tipton, Greg Steele and wife Kathy of Fishers, and Sandy (Steele) Porter of Eaton Rapids, Michigan.

She worked at the Tipton Bldg and Loan, Tipton County Treasurer’s Office, and was an Accountant at Pioneer before retiring in 1976.  She pursued her lifelong dream of being a teacher by going to IUK from 1974 – 1976; however, a heart attack kept her from completing her education.  Instead, she volunteered at Tipton Community Schools as an assistant and substitute teacher from 1976 – 2004.

She was involved in several organizations, including a 60-year member of Trinity Wesleyan Church, Lincoln Elementary School PTA, where she served as its first President.  She was recipient of the first Jean Bronson Volunteer Service Award from Mid Central Reading Council in 1999.  She was a 50 year member of the Double Dozen Club, serving 3 years as county President.  She was a member of the Fairview Cemetery Board from 1984 – 2005.  She was a lifetime member of the Pioneer Auto Club of Kokomo.  She was a member of Tipton Historical Society and a volunteer at Tipton Hospital, where she had over 2500 hours of service.

Jean’s funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, at Trinity Wesleyan Church, 3021 W. St. Rd. 28, Tipton, where Pastors Doug Slack and Harvey Herring will lead the service. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Viewing will be from 2:00–8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26 at Young Nichols Funeral Home and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church.
