F. Gene Brunk

F. Gene Brunk, 90, Tipton, died at 6:15 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2008 at Tipton Hospital.  He was born in Howard County on December 20, 1917 to Omer and Pearl (Rosier) Brunk.  Gene married Mildred Kirby on October 10, 1948, she survives.

Gene had worked at Oakes Manufacturing - FMC Corporation until retiring in 1985 and more recently at Marsh for the past 22 years as a carry out person.  He belonged to the West Street Christian Church, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Austin Lodge #128 F&AM in Tipton, the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis, York Rite of Indiana, York Rite Cross of Honour and served on the Tipton City Council for 12 1/2 years.  Gene served in the Army during WWII.

Survivors include his wife Mildred, a daughter, Jeannine Brunk-Aleksa and her husband John of Carmel and a son, Dennis G. Brunk of West Lafayette, a sister, Martha Jane Brunk in Florida, and one grandson, Scott Aleksa.  He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

His funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Janice Burns-Watson presiding.  Burial will be in Albright Cemetery, Kokomo.  Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m.
