Mildred D. Burgan

Mildred Della Burgan, 90, Tipton County, died at 1:08 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2007 at Alterra Sterling House of Kokomo.  She was born May 31, 1917 in Goldsmith to Omer & Jessie (Barr) Phares and lived in the same house on the farm her entire life.  On May 31, 1936 she married Max W. Burgan and he died in December 1987.

She was a housewife and a long time employee of Farmers Loan & Trust in Tipton. She was a former member of the Goldsmith United Methodist Church and an organist at the church.  She had also belonged to the Kempton Methodist Episcopal Church and was a pianist there.   Mildred belonged to the Rebekah Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star.  She was a member of many Christian women's organizations.

She is survived by one daughter, Ramona Orbaugh and her husband Jeffrey, Goldsmith; one son, Dr. Phil Burgan and his wife Connie, Kokomo; grandchildren Christopher & Kristi Orbaugh, Cameron & Heather Orbaugh, Blake & Rachel Burgan, Blaine & Neelu Burgan, and William & Elizabeth "Betsy" Wenz; 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers early in their childhood.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon - 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with a private family service to follow.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.
