Joan D. Crawford

Joan Dorothy Crawford, 81, Tipton, died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Tipton Hospital.  She was born August 19, 1926, in Detroit, the daughter of Verl B. & Alice M. (Lemberger) Crawford. She had previously lived in Detroit, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Kokomo before moving to Tipton.

She retired from Continental Steel (Penn Dixie) in Kokomo on Mach 31, 1983 after working there for 37 years..  Joan was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kokomo and St. Patrick's Rosary Sodality (St. Cecelia Band).

She attended St, Joan of Arc Grade School and graduated from Kokomo High School.  Joan attended Indiana University, Kokomo School of Art. After retiring she traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe.

Joan was a very gentle and giving person who loved remembering family.  She was an avid gardener and loved art and beauty.

She is survived by three sisters and three brothers, Ruth Ormsby and husband Charles, Kokomo, Bruce Crawford and wife Joyce, Kokomo, Marilyn Ormsby and husband Mark, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Richard Crawford, Tipton, Sister Christina Crawford, Tipton, and Michael Crawford and wife Deena, Kokomo; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Crawford.

Her funeral will be at 11:00 Tuesday, December 4 at the St. Joseph Center, 1440 W. Division Road, Tipton, with Rev. Michael Kettron presiding and burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.  There will be a wake service at 3:00 p.m. Monday, also at the St. Joseph Center.  No visitation is scheduled.
