Norman F. Day Norman F. Day, 89, Tipton, and a former Fort Wayne resident for 52 years, died at 4:55 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Miller Merry Manor in Tipton. He was born October 26, 1919 in Tipton to Preston & Lula (Wolverton) Day. On August 29, 1949 he married Jean Alley and she survives. He was an electronics engineer for ITT, formerly Capehart & Farnsworth, for 32 years, retiring in 1984. A 1937 graduate of Tipton High School he was a member of the Eagles and was an avid bowler and golfer. He played trombone for the Buck Sloan Band at several events in the area. Norman was a member of the VFW and served in the Army Air Corp in WWII as a radioman and gunner in B-29's. Survivors besides his wife include one brother, Forest G. Day, Bay Village, Ohio and one nephew. His funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday April 2 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Collier presiding. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall with military honors. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
