Mary E. Garst

Mary E. Garst, 84, Tipton died at 2:55 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009 at her residence.  She was born in Atlanta, Indiana on August 10, 1924 to Andrew and Helena (Ripberger) Garst.

She retired as a Registered Nurse.  Mary belonged to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the 3rd Order of St. Francis, the Rosary Society at St. Johns, was a co-member of the Sisters of St. Joseph and served as secretary for the Legion of Mary.

Survivors include a sister, Louise Tragesser of Tipton, several nieces and nephews, and special caregivers, Freida Plake and Cathy Ferguson.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Louis Garst.

The funeral mass will be Wednesday March 25, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tipton with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding.  Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home where a wake service will be held at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow.  Burial will take place at St. John's Cemetery.
