Lewis D. Harper

Lewis Daily Harper, 85, Tipton, died at 9:35 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2009 at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.  He was born in Tipton on May 26, 1924 to Allen and Elsie (Shook) Harper.  He married Wilma Doris Garmon on August 3, 1991, and she survives.

Lewis was the Tipton City Court Judge from 1997 to present.  He was also a Real Estate Broker.  He belonged to the American Legion Post # 46, Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association, Eagles Lodge, Kokomo, Fraternal Order of Police # 109, Moose Lodge #1590, graduated from Tipton High School in 1942 and King College in 1943.  Lewis served as a B-24 Bomber Pilot in WWII from December 1942 - October 1945.

He is survived by his wife Doris, children Stephen Harper (Linda), Indianapolis, Linda Boyer (Phil) Tipton, daughter-in-law Sandy Harper, Round Rock, Texas, stepchildren Teresa O'Rear, Noblesville, Sherry Townsend, Tipton and Alan O'Rear, Indianapolis, one brother, Elbert Harper (Joyce), Tipton and one sister, Wilda Robison (Jack), Boise, Idaho; 10  grandchildren, Cheri Dohse, Andrew, Scott, Adam, Jon, Chris, and Mike Harper, also Colleen Self, Aaron and Bethany Boyer, step grandchildren, Dustin Neff, Alaina O'Rear and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Miller presiding.  Burial with military honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
