James W. "Hawk" Hawkins

James W. "Hawk" Hawkins, 62 of Tipton died at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at his residence.  He was born March 3, 1952 in Tipton to William A. & G. Virginia (Graham) Hawkins.  He married Jane E. Tunmer on July 31, 1971 and she survives.

Hawk was a 1970 graduate of Tipton High School and had worked at BRS Mechanical for 22 years.  He was a member of the Kemp United Methodist Church; BPOE Elks and a past exalted ruler, and belonged to the Alexandria Conservation & Gun Club.  He was an avid fisherman, competitive trap shooter and enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Survivors besides his wife Jane include three children, Amy L. McKay and husband Johnny, Sharpsville, Stacey J. Hawkins, Tipton and Meg E. Whitehead and husband Christopher, Clarksville, Tennessee.  Hawk had three grandchildren, Hunter McKay, Karly McKay and Gabe Hawkins.

He is also survived by his nine brothers and sisters, Kathy Murphy, Tipton, Michael Hawkins, Tipton, Steve Hawkins, Elwood, Mark Hawkins and wife Barbara, Lynnwood, Washington, Lynn Cunniff and husband Chris, Pineville, North Carolina, Lisa Plake, Tipton, Joe Hawkins and wife Kelly, Tipton, Rich Hawkins and wife Paula, Tipton and Rob Hawkins, Chicago.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Ward presiding and burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday with an Elks memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
