Margaret E. "Peg" Henderson

Margaret Elizabeth "Peg" Henderson, 84, Atlanta, died at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Tipton Hospital.  She was born May 6, 1926 to Earl D. & Isabelle (Redmon) Gunkel.  On December 15, 1946 she married Myron Lee Henderson and he preceded her in death on October 6, 1975.

She graduated from Tipton High School and Elkhart Business University with a medical secretary degree.  She was a homemaker, secretary for Gaiser & Smeltzer and a bank teller for Tipton Building & Loan for many years, retiring in 1985.  Peg was a member of the West Street Christian Church and the Leah Circle there.  She was also a member of the Phi Beta Psi sorority and the former Happy Hour Club.

She is survived by three children; Marla (Henderson) Wittkamper and husband Eldon, Elwood, Dennis Henderson and wife Jan, Atlanta, and Karen (Henderson) Embury and husband Michael, St. Joseph, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Jentry Wittkamper and wife Alisha, Michelle Jacobs and husband Jason, Lynlee Funk and husband Aaron, Brad Henderson and wife Rachel, Marysa Embury, Matthew Embury, Derek Wittkamper, Bret Henderson;  eight great-grandchildren with two more on the way; one brother, Harold Gunkel and wife Geneva, Tipton and one sister, Virginia Horton, Camby, Indiana.

Peg was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Gunkel.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24 at the West Street Christian Church, 132 N. West Street, Tipton, with Rev. Linda McKiernan-Allen presiding.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Saturday, all at the West Street Christian Church.
