Max R. Hinkle

Max R. Hinkle, 84, Tipton, died at 2:40 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010 at his residence.  He was born November 13, 1925 in South Bend to Jesse & Edna (Dellinger) Hinkle.  He lived in South Bend for 38 years.  On May 3, 1947 he married Donna Freese and she died June 19, 1970.

Max was a Tool and Die maker at Studebaker in South Bend and after they closed, he worked at Delco in Kokomo, retiring in 1993. He was a graduate of Riley High School in South Bend and attended the West Street Christian Church in Tipton.

Survivors include two daughters, Lindsey Ehman and husband Brent, Tipton and Kim Flittner and husband Don,  Mars Hill, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Jeff Ehman and wife Stacee, Summer Norred and husband Clay, Stasha Babcock and husband Mike, Jordan Ehman, Brick Ehman, Cole Flittner, Grayson Flittner and Ashlyn-Kate Flittner; six great-grandchildren, Gunnar & Claire Norred, Reis, Kylee & Sawyer Ehman and Brileigh Babcock.

Max's funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 2 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Linda McKiernan-Allen presiding.   Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
