Raymond E. “Ray” Holderman

Raymond E. “Ray” Holderman, 73, Tipton died October 31, 2007 at his residence.  He was born in Indianapolis on July 2, 1934 to Charles and Amy (Adams) Holderman.  Ray married Nancy (Lee) Moses on January 7, 1981, and she survives.

Ray had owned the Tipton Meat Market and other local businesses.  He belonged to the Kemp United Methodist Church and was a member of their finance committee.  He was also an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #109.  He had served on both the city and county councils.  Ray truly loved life.  He especially enjoyed his grandchildren, family, his pets, playing golf and watching sports as well as time at the lake.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, three daughters: Karen Steiner and husband John of Sharpsville, Kathy Everling and husband Frankie of Tipton, Nancy Jean Funcke of Monroe, Iowa; one son; Mike and wife Maggie of Tipton; two step-sons; John Moses and wife Dana, Mike Moses and wife Stephanie and step-daughter Kathy Cherry and husband Steve, all of Tipton.   

Ray has three sisters; Carol Yates of New Whiteland, Shirley Jagodzinski of Venice Florida, and Janet Cooper, McKee, Kentucky; two brothers, Jimmy Holderman of Morgan, Indiana and Charles Holderman of Indianapolis; step mother Hazel Holderman of Greenwood.  He has 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 3, at Kemp United Methodist Church with Rev. Phil Collier and Rev. Kurt Gremel presiding. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.
