Judith C. Hoover

Judith Claudia Hoover, 90 of Tipton died at 2:35 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton.  Judy was born on January 11, 1924 in Tipton County to Dilver Leslie and Virginia (Young) Hoover.

Judy is a member of West Street Christian Church.  She was a faithful 50 year member of the Plum Grove Home Demonstration Club.  In October of 2004 she was received a 50 year service award from the Indiana Extension Homemakers Association.  She was an avid sports fan and a supporter of the 4-H fair and all the fairground activities.  Judy loved many animals, especially dogs, cats and horses.  She received recognition from the Kantering Kids 4-H Club as their “Most Loyal Fan”.  An embroidered chair was presented to her by the club.

Judy loved an outing and was always ready for any adventure.  Up until a few weeks ago, she was still the first one on the activities bus at Millers to go to Pizza Hut, Wal-Mart or wherever the outing of the day would be.  Judy never knew a stranger and was always generous with her smiles, welcomes and lending a listening ear.  She was always truly interested in others.

Judith is survived by three siblings; Beverly Hoover of Van Buren, Indiana, Joan Cole of Holly Hills, Florida and Keith Hoover of Tipton, as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by 5 siblings; Phil, Billy, Don, and Norma Hoover and Marjorie Day.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 3 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Linda McKiernan-Allen presiding.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be from noon until time of service on Monday.

Memorials may be made to the West Street Christian Church, 132 N. West Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

Judith’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to Miller's Merry Manor staff and Dr. Mary Compton for their admirable care.
