Arthur Eugene "Gene" Jackson

Arthur Eugene "Gene" Jackson, 92, Noblesville and a former Kempton resident died at 5:35 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  He was born in Tipton County on July 13, 1916 to Andrew & Marie (Spaulding) Jackson.  He married Rachel Hinkle on March 12, 1938 in Tipton and she preceded him in death on July 20, 1992.

Gene lived his entire life in the Kempton area.  He retired from Standard Oil of Indiana in 1976 after thirty years of service.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII serving in Europe where he was awarded two Bronze Stars for meritorious service in Central Europe and Rhineland along with other distinctions such as Rifle SS and TSMG Expert. He was a member of Kempton Christian Church, Valley of Indianapolis Scottish Rite and Austin Lodge No. 128, Tipton.

Gene is survived by one daughter, Katie Jackson Myers and husband Clarence, Fishers; three grandchildren, Kristen Myers LaGoy and husband Thomas, Louisville, Andrew W. Myers and wife Laurie, Fishers, and Rebecca Myers, Indianapolis.  He also has one great-grandson, Kade Andrew Myers; one sister, Helen Elliott and husband Robert, Largo, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, 216 W. Jefferson Street, Tipton, with Rev. Jerry Nash presiding.  Burial will follow in Kempton Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
