Mary Esther Kemper

Mary Esther Kemper, 93 of Windfall died at 11:55 p.m. on Wednesday. August 26, 2015 at her residence.  She was born November 15, 1921 in Madison County to James A. & Dorothy (Florea) Hinds.  On October 12, 1941 she married Ned E. Kemper and he preceded her in death on June 30, 2014.

Mary Esther was a farmer and a homemaker.  She served eight years as Deputy Auditor for Tipton County and had worked as a bookkeeper for Pioneer Hi-Bred Corn Company.  She was a member of Rock Prairie Baptist Church, Gideons International, Farm Bureau and the Windfall Lions Club.  She belonged to the Eye Cue & Homemakers Home Demonstration Clubs. 

Mary Esther was very active in her church with teaching Sunday School and Bible Studies.  She sang in the Hazel Dell A Cappella Trio and in the Homemakers National Choir.  She was well known for playing two trumpets at the same time,  She enjoyed writing and performing skits and memorizing readings.  She remained active in gardening and feeding the birds,  She never saw a weed she did not pull.

Mary Esther is survived by two children, Carolyn J. Miner-Sparling (Logan Sparling) of Kokomo and Kenneth W. Kemper (Kaye) of Windfall; five grandchildren; Scott (Christie) Miner, Tim (Heather) Miner, Chris (Laurie) Miner, Angela Grimes and William Kemper; ten great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, Lawrence H. Hinds, Ralph H. Hinds, Olive B. Shannahan and Ruby M. Ciro.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August  31, at Rock Prairie Baptist Church, Tipton with Pastor Kevin Carr and Dr. Logan Sparling presiding.  Burial will follow at Elwood City Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and Monday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Rock Prairie Baptist Church.
