Robert E. "Bob" Leach

Robert E. “Bob” Leach, 80, Tipton, died at 5:00 a.m. Sunday, January 29, 2006 in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.  Bob was born on November 2, 1925 in Atlanta, Indiana, to John G. and Aleen (Dunn) Leach.  He married Georgia (Snyder) Schuyler-Leach on June 18, 1972, and she survives.

Bob worked at Steel Parts Corporation for 45 years until retiring in 1989 as Vice President of Purchasing. 

He is a member of the Atlanta Christian Church where he has served as an elder.  Bob is a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Tipton Lodge 1590 where he has held local, state and international offices.  He is a 50+ member of the Austin Masonic Lodge #128, a member of York Rite and also belonged to the Indianapolis Valley Shrine Club.  Bob served in the U.S. Army and is a member of the American Legion Post 46 in Tipton.  He was a life member of the Tipton Elks #1012.

Bob was a 1943 graduate of Atlanta High School.  He enjoyed coaching Little League in Walnut Grove and was well know for his pitching in many fast pitch softball leagues.  He was an avid golfer and bowler, participating in several leagues.  From 1946-1966 he was a basketball referee for the IHSAA. 

He is survived by his wife, Georgia and 5 children:  Robert Allen Leach, Gaston S.C.;  Kathy Jo Floyd, Lugoff, S.C.;  Thomas Gene Schuyler, Columbus, IN;  Cynthia Luella Schuyler, Tipton;  and Richard Paul Schuyler, Tipton.  Bob has one sister, Norma Holloway and husband Joe in Atlanta, IN and one brother Jack D. and wife Wilma Leach also in Atlanta, IN;  Several grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. 

His funeral will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, at the Atlanta Christian Church with Rev. Harold Barnett presiding.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton with military graveside rites.  Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton and from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.  A brief service will be given by the Moose at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening followed by a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
