Glen Watson Lightfoot

Glen Watson Lightfoot, 86, of Tipton died at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton.  He was born June 6, 1926 in Howard County to Mearle & Eunice (Watson) Lightfoot.  On January 28, 1945 he married Lucille McClellan and she preceded him in death on March 13, 2006.

Glen was a farmer and was a Master Farmer with Prairie Farmer Magazine.  His farming career spanned from a John Deere model "B" tractor through innovations in hog and cattle operations and seed corn production with Pioneer.  He continued his farming well into his 80s.  He was a member of the Hemlock Friends Church where he taught Sunday School and was an Elder for many years.  He belonged to The Gideons International and worked with their jail ministry.  Glen was a 1944 graduate of Windfall High School and served as a 4-H leader.  His favorite pastime was fishing.  He and Lucille enjoyed many winters in Sebring, Florida.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary & Beth Lightfoot, Tipton, Lynn & Susan Lightfoot, Pensacola, Florida, and Paul & Connie Lightfoot, Upland, Indiana; one sister, Shirley Salmons, Columbus, Indiana; one sister-in-law, Martha Bucci, Anderson: six grandchildren, Todd Lightfoot and wife Melissa, Luke Lightfoot and wife Kelli, Lisa Lightfoot, Hilary Ludema and husband Mark, Kendra Beutler and husband Jason, and Megan Anderson and husband Chris. 

Glen is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, James Moll, Lucy Lightfoot, Logan Lightfoot, Harper Lightfoot, Rebekah Ludema, Ainsley Ludema, Kinsen Beutler, Jaybin Beutler, and Parker Anderson.  He was preceded in death by three sisters, Josephine White, Roberta Hunt, and Carol Zartman and one grandson, Reid Lightfoot.

His funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 1, at the Hemlock Friends Church, 4448 E. 400 S., Kokomo, with Rev. Ron Forsythe presiding.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will be from 3:00 - 8:00 Friday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church.
