Alice Longfellow

Alice Longfellow passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 17, 2016 in Shelton, Connecticut.  She was born in Prairie Township to Asa and Stella (Orr) Crail on June 20, 1915.   She was fortunate to have reached 100+ years and have a fulfilling life.   

In August of 1942 she married H. Wallace Longfellow and they were the parents of four children, Joyce Rehling of Shelton, Connecticut, Robert Longfellow of Tipton, Barbara Jane Donselman of Murrieta, California and Mark Longfellow of Tipton.  Alice is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   

She was a graduate of Prairie High School in the Class of 1933.  She enjoyed school and later in life she took courses at Indiana U. Extension in Kokomo.  She was an active member of the county Home Economics Club, the Tipton Historical Society and Community Christian Women Group for many years.   

God gifted her with many talents.  Her favorite activity was her oil painting which she continued for many years.  She was honored with many awards and people across the United States and Europe possess her paintings.  During her life she also enjoyed sewing, gardening, crocheting, canning and baking.   

The funeral service for Alice will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Tetersburg Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
