Delvin C. Mahaney

Delvin C. Mahaney, 77, Tipton and formerly of Indianapolis and Kentucky,  died at 2:13 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Tipton Hospital.  He was born January 19, 1932 in Indianapolis to Buby D. & Pernie Belle (Stinson) Mahaney.  On December 22, 1953 he married Billie Gammon and she survives.

Delvin was a retired brick mason and building contractor.  He had been the Building Inspector for the City of Tipton and was a volunteer at Tipton Hospital.  He attended Trinity Wesleyan Church. Delvin had served in the U.S. Army from 1952 - 1954.

Survivors besides his wife Billie include three daughters, Penni Powell and husband Jack, Elwood, Lisa Hobbs and husband Dennis, Tipton, and Joy Boruff and husband Andy, Tipton; one son, Chris Mahaney and wife Nikki, Tipton; two brothers, Bobby Mahaney and wife Beverly and James Mahaney and wife Jenny, all of Tipton; one sister, Carolyn Comstock and husband Jimmy, Tipton; special in-laws Cheri Mahaney, Charlene Mahaney and Stanley Shields.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Amber Ball and husband Trevor, Ryan Powell, Laura Kelley and husband Darrick, Amy Lynch and husband Patrick, Robert Mahaney, Joshua Hobbs, Cody Boruff, Brayton Boruff, Morgan Mahaney and Molly Mahaney.

Delvin was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Calston and Donald Mahaney and  five sisters, Wilma Spivey, Earline Mahaney, Jeanette Garmon, Frances McClard and Martha Shields.

His funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Slack and Rev. Harvey Herring presiding.  Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
