Paul Richard "Dick" Michel

Paul Richard "Dick" Michel, 79, Tipton, died at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at St. Vincent's Hospital Carmel.  Dick was born in Tipton on November 2, 1926 to Harvey and Leona (Moore) Michel.  He married Beverly Campbell on June 19, 1955, and she survives.

Dick was a lifelong resident of Tipton County.  He was a 1944 graduate of Tipton High School and graduated from the Indiana University School of Business in 1949. He was a farmer, member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, and served on the Mustard Seed Board  He was a member of the Board of Directors of First Federal Bank as President (now Star Financial Bank) and served as a County Councilman.  Dick served in the Army Air Corp in WWII. He was an avid golfer and loved music.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly, three sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew (Jeanette) Michel, Fishers, Tim (Judith) Michel, Carmel and Rick (Sharon) Michel, Jamestown, North Carolina;  seven grandchildren; Stephanie, Andrew "Drew" Jr., Greg, Brooks, Ali, Stuart, and Steven Michel;  one sister, Judith St. Clair, Indianapolis.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Norman Michel.

Family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 10, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Tipton at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11 with the Rev. Linda Philabaun presiding.
