Iva Conley Miller

Iva Conley Miller, 103, Tipton, died at 7:53 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton.  She was born April 27, 1905 in Silvara, Pennsylvania to Archie & Martha (Decker) Winans.  She married G. Jennings Conley and he died October 5, 1972.  She then married Jesse Miller in 1978 and he preceded her in death in 1998.

She was a former school teacher, piano player in silent movies and a telephone operator.  Iva was a member of the West Street Christian Church where she was a choir member and past president of the women's group.  She belonged to the Matene Musicale and was past president of it.  She was a member of the Rosary Chapter of Eastern Star and the Phi Beta Psi Sorority.

Iva is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Garth & Martha (Hull) Conley, Evanston, Illinois and Gale & Penny (Newbern) Conley, Carmel; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one sister, Erma Filkins and one brother, Rev. Eldon Winans.

No services are planned.  Burial will be in Camptown, Pennsylvania at a later date.  Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton is handling arrangements.
