John K. Mitchell

John Kneer Mitchell, 85, Tipton, died at 6:25 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2006, at Tipton Hospital.  He was born in Oaklandon, Indiana on July 28, 1921 to John A. and May (Askern) Mitchell.  John married Agnes M. Domagala on May 17, 1947.

John retired in 1981 from Delco Remy.  He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, a member of the American Legion and the Good Sams camping club.  He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine I. (James) Lampman, Katie, Texas, Annette M. (Jerry) Carignan, Anderson, and Debra E. (Jerry) Garmon, Columbus;  eight grandchildren; John Lampman, Jim Lampman, Joe Lampman, Aprle Hudson, Autumn Carignan, Wade Carignan, Christopher Garmon, and Michelle Roberts; 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Robert L. Mitchell of Atlanta.  John was preceded in death by his sister Lois Harger.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 340 Mill Street, Tipton, with Rev. Gerald Borawski and Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding.  Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Tipton with military rites by the Tipton American Legion.  Visitation will be at Young-Nichols Funeral Home from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m.
