Phyllis E. Mitchell 

WINDFALL – Phyllis Esther Mitchell, 84, Windfall, died at 11:15 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2006 at home.

Born May 5, 1921, in Hobbs, she was the daughter of Chalmer and Opal (Redmond) Hobbs.

A 1939 graduate of Windfall High School, she attended Indiana University, Bloomington.

She married William D. Mitchell on April 2, 1941. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1982.

She was a 20-year employee of Tipton County Memorial Hospital, serving as a unit secretary until retiring in 1996.

She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and spending time with her family.

Surviving are five children, Annette Mitchell Wyandotte, PhD, of New Albany; Jennifer Lamoreaux of Windfall; Jill Loveless and husband Rodney of Sacramento, Calif.; Philip Mitchell and wife Cheryl of Sharpsville; and Leanna Jessup and husband Garry of Sheridan.

Also surviving are two sisters, Nancy Look of El Paso, Texas, and Louise Curry of Tipton; nine grandchildren, Brenda and Brent Briscoe, Ross and Denton Lamoreaux, R.J. Loveless, Bradley and Allison Mitchell and Dayne and Jake Jessup. Thirteen great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceding her in death were two sisters, Evelyn Smay and Mary Conway, and her parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. B.D. Mitchell.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. William Salsbery at 11 a.m. Thursday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton. Burial will be in Windfall’s Brookside Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
