Janet Rodgers Mohler

Janet Rodgers Mohler, 81, a long-time resident of Tipton, passed while resting comfortably, into the loving arms of our creator God on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton.

Janet was born to Clinton and Thelma McElyea in 1934 near Leon, Iowa and was raised in Ames, Iowa, where she attended Iowa State University.

Janet worked at Pioneer Hi-Bred International Incorporated.  She retired from Tipton Community School Corporation after working at Jefferson and Lincoln Elementary Schools for several years as a Secretary.  

She was a member of West Street Christian Church where she was very active in the choir and hand bell choir for many years.  Janet also held many service and leadership positions including deacon, elder, and chairwoman of the board.  Janet enjoyed many years as a member of Phi Beta Psi social sorority and was a member of a bridge club with some very special friends.  After retirement, she volunteered at Tipton Hospital in the gift store, which brought her great joy.

She is survived by her devoted husband Michael T. Mohler; sister Joan Biddison, Ionia, Michigan; three daughters, Bonnie Condon, Elmhurst, Illinois, Tammy Pritchett and husband Kevin, Fowler, Indiana and Peggy Heckaman, Plainfield, Indiana.

Janet is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Ben Foor and wife Helena, David Foor, Miranda Foor, Meghan Condon, Casey Condon, Drew Pritchett and wife Nicolette, Colin Pritchett, Luke Pritchett, Jonah Pritchett, Noah Heckaman, Jesse Heckaman and wife Cierra, and Abby Heckman; four great-grandchildren, Briana Foor, Mia Foor, Ray Foor and Oliver Heckaman.  Janet was preceded in death by her parents and husband Paul L. Rodgers.

A memorial service to honor Janet will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16 at West Street Christian Church with Rev. Linda McKiernan-Allen presiding. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service.  Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
