Patricia Moore

Patricia “Pat or Patty” Capehart Moore, of Tipton, died Friday, January 9, 2009 in Indianapolis, Indiana at age 80 surrounded by family and friends. 

Pat was born in Washington, Indiana on January 7, 1929 to Ralph and Rosalie Capehart.  She graduated from Waynetown High School and received a B.A. in Education from Indiana University and M.S. in Guidance Counseling at Butler.  Pat dedicated her life to her family and to promoting education.  She began her long career in education as a teacher and guidance counselor and then served as Assistant Director of Admissions at Purdue University from 1969-1998. She received numerous awards in her career including the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash and Purdue Train Alumni Service awards.

Pat was pre-deceased by her husband of 55 years, Walter Moore.  She is survived by brother Jim Capehart, Crawfordsville, sister, Shirley Shoup, Speedway, 6 nieces and nephews, 14 great nieces and nephews, and countless loving students.  She was a long time member of West Street Christian Church of Tipton and Tri Kappa Sorority.  

Her funeral will be at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, January 13 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Burns-Watson presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
