Sarah Josephine (Surratt) Nash

Sarah Josephine (Surratt) Nash, 93 died at 12:50 p.m. August 26, 2006, in Athens, Georgia.  She resided in Tipton for 60 years and in New Smyrna Beach, Florida for 25 years.  She was born on August 27, 1912, to Marvin W. and Mary Madge (Rains) Surratt.  Josephine married Robert L. Nash; he preceded her in death on April 14, 1996.

Josephine enjoyed being a mother.  She was a graduate of Purdue University, a member of West Street Christian Church, Tri-Kappa, and was a master bridge player.

She is survived by 3 sons; Richard Andrus Nash, Eatonton, Georgia, Dane Patterson Nash, Tipton, and Marvin Timothy Nash, Thorntown, Indiana; nine grandchildren; Michael, Shawn, Tom, Robert, Jessica, Sarah, Katheryn, Dawn, and Bryan.

Josephine was preceded in death by one son, John Michel Nash and 2 brothers, John Morgan Surratt, and Joe Free Surratt and 1 sister, Edna May (Surratt) Andrus.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Burns-Watson presiding.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday 1 hour prior to the service, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
