Virginia E. O'Malley

Virginia E. O'Malley, 91, Autumnwood Assisted Living, Tipton, died at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Tipton Hospital. She was born January 24, 1916 in Windfall to Owen & Mae (Mason) Doggett.  On February 9, 1937 she married Raymond O'Malley and he died December 5, 1987.

She was a homemaker, a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a Tipton County 4-H leader.  Virginia belonged to the Plum Grove Extension Homemaker Club, Kokomo Travel Club, Tipton County Historical Society and Friends of the Library. She was a member of St. John's Rosary Society and Windfall Indiana Reserve Chapter of the DAR.  Virginia had received the Tipton County "Jane" award for community service.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Krueger and her husband Dale, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Julia Ann McGraw and her husband Bob, Atlanta, Georgia, and Kathleen Mitchell and her husband Bill, Decatur, Georgia; three sons, John O'Malley, Smyrna, Tennessee, David O'Malley and his wife Joan, Tipton, and George O'Malley and his wife Kathy, Kenosha, Wisconsin; two sisters, Juanita Hartley and Norma Giffin, both of Tipton; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur Doggett, Robert Doggett and Joe Doggett, and two sisters, Marjorie Leisure and Maribel England.

Virginia's funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 5 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 340 Mill Street, Tipton, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with a Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. and a Rosary Service to follow.
