O. Allen Perry

O. Allen Perry, 84 of Carlisle, Indiana, and formerly of Tipton, died Friday, December 11, 2009 in Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes.  He was born in Tipton County on December 14, 1924 to Edd and Elizabeth (Willey) Perry.  He married Carolyn Coverdale on April 13, 1946, and she survives.

Allen was owner/operator of Perry's Standard Service Station, worked for Cochran's Lumber Yard and was a self employed painter.  He had served in the Army during WWII.  Allen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tipton and more recently attended Carlisle First United Methodist Church.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Tipton belonging to the Chapter, Council, Shrine, Blue Lodge, Commandry and Eastern Star.  He served on the Board of the Tipton County EDC, Tipton Utility Board, was a member of the Tipton Elks Lodge where he was Secretary for over 25 years.  He performed with the Kokomo Barber Shop Quartet and the Hoosier Heritage Quartet in Vincennes.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; one daughter, Lynn Perry Jones and son-in law Robert C. Jones of Carlisle, Indiana; two grandchildren, Brian R. Jones and wife Brittany and Andrea L. Jones.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Genevieve Cox and Maxine Alley and one brother, Raybur Bone.

His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Revs. Linda Philabaun and Jack Masters presiding.  Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
