James E. Piercefield

James E. Piercefield, 86, Zionsville died at 3:15 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Richard Roudebush VA Hospital in Indianapolis.  He was born September 15, 1922 in Columbus, Indiana to Webber & Mary (Foster) Piercefield.  On August 11, 1951 he married Beaulah Browning and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2001.

He retired from the American Legion and had worked at Eli Lily and Chrysler in Indianapolis.  Jim was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army and had fought during the invasion at Normandy and in the Battle of the Bulge.

He is survived by sisters in law and brothers in law Garnet Seacott, Marion, George & Susan Browning, Sweetser, Johnnie Browning, Marion. and Harry Browning, Elwood; a cousin, Philip Peterson, Zionsville; nieces and nephews Patricia Jack, Mark Jack, Marla Turner, Kim Shane, Teresa Cooper, Jeanette Middlesworth, Larry Browning, Jennifer Amos, Cheryl Browning, Tammy Wlodarski, Becky Browning, Valerie May, Ruby Browning, John Browning, Jr., Crystal Golding, Darlene Browning, Maryann Browning and Nina Jean Parks.  Special caregivers to Jim were Garnet Seacott and Patricia Jack. One son, Dewayne, is deceased.

Jim's funeral was held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Brammer presiding.  Burial was in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall with military honors.
