David R. Plake

David R. Plake, Sr., 67, Tipton, died at 12:12 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2006, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Indianapolis.  He was born June 8, 1939, in Tipton to David & Alice (Crume) Plake.  On March 24, 1984, he married Lisa A. Hawkins and she survives.

He was the Owner-Operator of Plake Concrete and Excavating and owner of Westside Auto, both in Tipton.  He was a member of the Kemp United Methodist Church, Moose and Elks lodges, and a former member of the National Guard.  He enjoyed playing golf and playing with his grandchildren.

David is survived by his wife and six children, David Plake, Jr., Tipton, Gerald Plake and wife Marie, Curtisville, Matthew Plake and wife Diane, Tipton, Kyle Hawkins, Bloomington, Amber Yates and husband Jon, Tipton, and Breanna Ingle and husband Dylan, Tipton; five grandchildren, Brandon Plake, Olivia Plake, Samantha Plake, Devin Piel and Katherine Long.

He is also survived by one sister, Karen Rich and husband J.D., Tipton; three brothers, Boyd Plake and wife Mary Jo, West Lafayette, Phil Plake and wife Freida, Tipton, and Jim Plake and wife Jane, Monticello.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Dartis Plake.

David's funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Ingle presiding.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
