Thelma Thetis (Dickover) Rayl

Thelma Thetis (Dickover) Rayl, 105, Elwood, died at 4:10 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood.  She was born January 22, 1904 in Winchester, Indiana to William and Minnie (McCarty) Dickover.  On August 20, 1927 she married Foy O. Rayl and he preceded her in death August 1968.

She was a secretary, florist, owner of the Tipton Greenhouse for 33 years, and manager of the Tipton County 4-H Building Kitchen.  Thelma was a member of the Rebecca Lodge, Charter Member of the Double Dozen Club, Kemp Methodist Church, Rachel Circle of Church, Kempton Rebecca Lodge, and Tipton Historical Society.

She is survived by two daughters, Evalyn Frye, Vanceburg, Kentucky, and Janice McCord, Arcadia; one son, Paul "Butch" and wife Noreen "Pug" Rayl, Akron, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren, Cheryl Kinser, Sandie Bennett, Kevin Bangle, Tamera Tebbe, Patrick McCord, Michelle Nunemacher, Randall McCord, Jeff, Patrick, Shawn, and Paul Andrew Rayl, Brad Dalton, and Brian Dalton. Thelma also has 28 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 16 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Collier presiding.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
