Rheba Grishaw Reasner

Rheba Grishaw Reasner, age 86, formerly of Tipton, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 19, 2010.  She was born the only child of Ruth (Hobbs) and J. Paul Grishaw on March 23, 1924.  Rheba was raised in Tipton and later Gary, Indiana, where she graduated from Horace Mann High School. She continued her education at Purdue University.  She married Harry E. Reasner in 1949, and they settled in Tipton in 1950, where they began the family restaurant business with the opening of the Polar Bear Restaurant.

During the early years of her marriage, Rheba worked alongside Harry in their restaurant business.  With the arrival of their first born, David in 1952, followed by Becky in 1955 and Brent in 1961, Rheba assumed the full-time mother and homemaker role which she cherished.

Rheba inherited a love for beautiful flowers from her mother and enjoyed gardening.  In later years, Rheba resided in Naples, Florida during winter months and welcomed the visits of friends, children and grandchildren.  She had a passion for travel, and collecting antiques and decorative arts.  Rheba’s friendships were many, and she was known for her mischievous sense of humor, a trait not lost during her more challenging declining years.

Rheba was preceded in death by her parents.  Survivors include her son, David Reasner and his wife, Cherie of Carmel; daughter, Rebecca Cleveland and her husband, Peter of Indianapolis; and son, Brent and his wife Donna of Noblesville.  Also surviving are six grandchildren, Ryan and Elaine Reasner; Wesley and Brent Cleveland; J. Paul and Carly Reasner.

Mrs. Reasner was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority at Purdue University, Tri Kappa Sorority, Tipton Chapter, Friends of the Tipton County Library, a charter member of the Tipton Hospital Auxiliary, the Columbia Club of Indianapolis, the Bordeaux Club Association of Naples, Florida.  She was a lifelong member of the West Street Christian Church of Tipton.

The Reasner family sincerely thanks the wonderful staff at Maple Park Village in Westfield for their loving and professional care of Rheba.

Visitation will be held at the West Street Christian Church, Tipton, beginning at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 23, with a funeral to follow at Noon with Rev. Linda McKiernan-Allen presiding.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.  Arrangements entrusted to Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton.
