Dallas W. Ressler

Dallas Warren Ressler, 90, Tipton, died at 12:05 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006 at Tipton Hospital.  He was born in Tipton County on October 14, 1915, to Percy and Cleo V. (Warren) Ressler.  Dallas married Dorothy Duncan in February 1944, and she survives.

He was a lifelong Tipton County farmer and served as County Commissioner for 12 years. Dallas was a 1933 graduate of Windfall High School.  He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was a charter member of its Ushers Club.  He served on the Board of Directors of Farm Bureau Co-Op, was on the Tipton School Board, and was a member of the board for the Tipton County Public Library during the time the current library was built.  While serving as County Commissioner he was also on the board for Tipton County Memorial Hospital. 

Dallas is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Tipton; one daughter Barbara Trathen and husband Thomas, Noblesville; two sons, Dennis Ressler and wife Regina, Westfield and Gregory Ressler and wife Rebecca, Tipton; five grandchildren, Tonia Trathen, Kristin Ressler, Kara Ressler, Henry Ressler and Rachael Ressler; one brother, Hugh Ressler, Warsaw, Indiana; two sisters, Gertrude Monroe, Antioch, California and Marian Lowery, Muncie and several nieces and nephews.

Dallas was preceded in death by five sisters, Flora Jean Dickover, Jean Emily Ressler, Anna Mae Hiatt, Cleva Blanche Hannah and Garnet Wilma Stiner.

His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2006 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 340 Mill Street, Tipton, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman.  Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with a Wake service at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary service.
