Raymond F. "Bud" Ripberger

Raymond F. "Bud" Ripberger, 79, Tipton, was born October 2, 1926, in Tipton County and passed away quietly at 4:33 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Tipton Hospital as his family sat by his side. Bud married Joan Aerne on April 23, 1949 and she survives. 

Bud worked his entire life.  He can be remembered as the Farm Bureau fuel delivery man, the owner of the Stag Bar and the 132 Club, working at Pioneer Hi-Bred and as the owner of Bud & Jody's Bottle Shop from 1968-1991. He then spent eight years as the Superintendent of the Tipton City Park in which he took great pride.  It was always a pleasure for Bud to be able to help beautify his hometown. It was not uncommon to see Bud at Jim Dandy having a cup of coffee or eating breakfast at Faye's Northside. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Elks, Moose and the Wednesday Night Bitch and Moan Club.

He is survived by his loving wife Jody; five of his six children, Dan Ripberger and wife Cindy, Tipton, Ron Ripberger and wife Karen, Tipton, Cindy Essig and husband Larry, Arcadia, CR "Bud" Ripberger and wife Julie, Chelsea, Michigan, and Amy Hoover and husband Hal, Lapel; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Madonna Myers, Rosemary Comer and Betty Hawkins and husband Bill; one brother, Richard Ripberger and wife MaryLou; and one sister-in-law, Thelma Ripberger, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Mary (Lawhorn-Hickner) Ripberger, two brothers, Jim and Pat Ripberger, and his eldest daughter, Kathy Mahaney.

Bud was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.  His family and friends remember him fondly and pray that he is at peace and finally home.

His funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 340 Mill Street, Tipton, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m.
