Marilyn J. Rogers

Marilyn J. Rogers, 80 of Indianapolis and formerly of Tipton, died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Zionsville Meadows in Zionsville.  She was born December 18, 1930 in New Ross to Walter A. and E. Clair (Bratton) Brown where she lived until 1952.  On July 26, 1952 she married Dorman D. Rogers and they moved to San Diego, California; Avon, Indiana and then Tipton in 1964.  He preceded her in death on June 25, 1995.  She then married Donald L. Rogers, M.D. on June 2, 2001 and he survives at their home in Indianapolis.

Marilyn was a 2nd and 3rd grade elementary school teacher at Jefferson Elementary School in Tipton from 1965-1993.  She was a member of the Kemp United Methodist Church, Tipton and attended Wesley United Methodist Church, Indianapolis.  Marilyn was also a member of Sigma Kappa, Tri Kappa, and the teaching honoraries Sigma Delta Pi and Delta Kappa Gamma.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; two children, Geoffrey A. Rogers, M.D. and wife Patricia, Granger, Indiana and Karen Lynn McKinney and husband Tom, Kempton; four grandchildren, Scott McKinney, Christie L. McKinney, Amy L. McKinney, and Brooke Elizabeth Rogers; one step-grandson, Taylor Skidmore; one sister, Mary Catherine Mahorney, Ladoga.

Marilyn's funeral will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 18 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Dr. R. E. Lee presiding. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 19 at New Ross Cemetery in New Ross, Indiana with a luncheon to follow at Marilyn's farmhouse near New Ross.
