Dorcas N. Seawell

Dorcas Naomi Seawell, 92, Windfall, died at 10:50 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2007 at Tipton Hospital.  She was born May 3, 1915 in Westfield to Alva O. & Sarah Mabel (Eisenhour) Hinshaw.  On September 5, 1941, she married Asa Waldo Seawell and he survives. 

She worked alongside her husband Waldo in his ministry and was very active  in church activities. She had belonged to Friends Churches in Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina and Iowa. Dorcas had lived in Bolivia as the daughter of missionary parents and wrote a book about her family's experiences.

She is survived by five children, Esther Mae Kirkham and husband John, West Palm Beach, Florida, Stephen Waldo Seawell and wife Jane, Wichita, Kansas, Judith Carol Zeikle and husband Chuck, Kansas City, Missouri, Matthew Carlton Seawell and wife Beth, Greentown, and Alva Timothy Seawell and wife Carol, Parkesburg, Pennsylvania; One sister, Sarah Suarez, Richmond; one brother, Joseph Hinshaw, Alexandria, Virginia; 14 grandchildren, Marwin Kirkham, Elaine Kirkham Polania, Jan Seawell Reckers, Anthony Zeikle, Sarah Zeikle Bledsoe, Meghan Zeikle, Cami Seawell Thomas, Cheryl Seawell, Cara Seawell Tarrh, Ryan Seawell, Jeremy Seawell, Lindsey Seawell, Brandon Seawell and Erin Seawell.  She also has eight great-grandchildren, Mason, Chase and McKenna Kirkham, Caleb and Alison Zeikle, Andrew Bledsoe, Justin Polania and Lexi Tarrh.

Dorcas was preceded in death by two brothers, Basil Hinshaw and James Hinshaw, and two sisters, Alice Smoker and Esther Zimmerman.

Her funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 18 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Revs. Chris Ellis and John Clark.  Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
