Gerald W. Shuck

Gerald W. Shuck, 84 of Kokomo died on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Northwoods Village, Kokomo.  He was born May 6, 1931 in Groomsville to Marvin "Ted" & Ora P. (Reese) Shuck. He moved to Kokomo in 1948.  On October 25, 1952 he married Petronel Davenport and she survives.

Gerald worked at Chrysler Transmission in Kokomo, from 1956 until his retirement in 1987.  He served in the Indiana National Guard from 1948 - 1976, primarily in Kempton but also in Tipton and Kokomo.  He retired as a Master Sergeant.  Gerald's most enjoyable job was as a 1st Sergeant at the Kempton Armory.

He was a graduate of Jefferson Township High School.  He loved nature, traveling, shooting and mentoring others.  He was restoring his father's 1939 Ford tractor.  Gerald loved God, his family and his country.

Survivors besides his wife Petronel include one daughter, Deborah K. Scheid and husband Mark, Avon; one grand-daughter, Marielle Scheid.  He was preceded in death by an infant son, Steven J. Shuck, one sister, Wilma Jean Hubbard and one brother, Wilber Ralph Shuck.

Gerald's funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Tetersburg Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
