Bonnie J. Smith

Bonnie Josephine (Langolf) Smith, age 88, San Antonio, Texas and formerly of Atlanta, died at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Kingsley Place in San Antonio. 

She was born April 20, 1921 in Hamilton County, to Otto and Ruth (Bolton) Langolf.  Bonnie married Ralph N. Smith, who predeceased her on January 23, 1993. 

She retired from the U. S. Postal Service after 32 years, working as a clerk and then Postmaster Pro Tem of the Atlanta Post Office. Bonnie was a member of: Albright United Methodist Church, Atlanta, Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church, San Antonio, TX, New Hope Home Economics Club, Tipton Co., and Order of Eastern Star. She also belonged to   Atlanta’s Serve-All Club, during it’s existence.

Surviving family includes  four children - Lester R. Smith, Grand Junction, Colorado, Suzanne G.  Mills, San Antonio, Texas, David  Langolf Smith and wife Karla, Atlanta, and Nanci J. Smith, San Antonio, Texas; two grandsons, Lance Smith and wife Heather &  Justin Smith,  all in Colorado; three step-grandchildren,  Angel Ringer, Wes York & Will York, in Indiana;  great grandson, Brayden Smith; and, step-great-grandchildren: Dorian, Quincy & Alyssa York,  Jonathon & Annabelle York, and, Madison Ringer.     

Bonnie is also survived by a sister, June Wise, Spencer, Indiana, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray, Ward &  Joe Langolf, and five sisters, Ethel May Himes, Margaret Haston, Grace Swinford, Charlotte Wise, and Marylou Myers.

Her funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Barnett presiding.  Burial will follow in Arcadia Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
