Ruby A. Smith

Ruby A. Smith, 97, Lebanon and formerly of Kempton and Tipton, died at 6:00 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Parkwood Health Care Center  in Lebanon.  She was born on March 14, 1912, in Iuka, Mississippi to Joseph & Tishamingo (Hudson) Busby.  On July 18, 1944, she married Royal A. Smith Jr. and he preceded her in death on December 7, 1999.

Ruby was a homemaker and also worked at Mallory's in Frankfort. She attended Beech Grove Baptist Church in Tipton. She also worked during World War II as a welder building ships in Pascagoula, Mississippi.

She is survived by two daughters Patty Risse and husband Joe, Ft. Myers Beach, Florida and Jacki Miller and husband Jeff, Crawfordsville; six grandchildren, Amy (Lucas) Brown, Mendie (Lucas) Thomas, Lora (Smith) Richardson, Daniel Smith, J. Matthew Miller and Erin (Miller) Sebenste; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband she was preceded in death by one son Larry Smith, one sister,  two brothers and one great-great-granddaughter.

Her funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Cliff Kelly  presiding. Burial will be in Kempton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
