Lillian M. (Henderson) Travis

Lillian M. (Henderson) Travis, 91, Tipton, died at 5:09 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2006 at the St. Joseph Center in Tipton.  She had also lived in Rogers, Arkansas; Sun City, Arizona and Kokomo.  She was born May 19, 1915 in Wisconsin to Norman & Alice (Strum) Henderson.  In January 1963 she married Chester J. Travis and he died June 23, 2001, after 37 years of marriage.

Lillian was a homemaker, teacher, and member of the Lutheran Church. She attended Carroll College and Milwaukee Downer, receiving a Bachelor's and Master's in Home Economics.  She taught at technical and vocational schools in Racine, Wisconsin where she was an administrator and teacher. She enjoyed traveling around the world with her husband, cooking and reading.

She is survived by stepchildren Fr. Leo Travis, a missionary in Thailand, Gordon Travis and wife Gloria of Houston, Texas, and Sr. Helen Travis, Tipton; one sister, Carol Folkestad, Arizona; one brother, Jim Henderson and wife JoAnn of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; nine nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one step-son, Don Travis, one step-daughter, Mary K. Travis and one brother, Alan Henderson.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, August 28, at the St. Joseph Center in Tipton with Fr. Leo Travis presiding.  Visitation will be from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Monday before the service.  Visitation will also be held  Wednesday at the Pagenkopf Funeral Home in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.  Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery in Mapleton, Wisconsin.
