Vern S. Tucker

Vern S. Tucker, 75, Marion, and a former Tipton resident, died at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Renaissance Specialty Hospital in Muncie.

He was born in Tipton on February 18, 1932 to John and Vera (Adair) Tucker and had lived in Tipton until 2004 when he moved to Marion.  He married Donna Burris on June 1, 1986 and she survives.

Vern had worked as a machine repairman at Delco Electronics in Kokomo, retiring in 1994.   He was a member of the Tipton Elks Lodge #1012, where he was a Past Exalted Ruler and Past District Deputy, American Legion, and F.O.P.  He had been a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and Little League coach.  Vern served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-53.

He is survived by two children: Cheryl (Tucker) Martin and husband Darrell, Rossville, Mark Tucker and wife Anita, Tipton; four step-children: Jr. Weismiller and significant other Heather Raines, Tipton, Bill Weismiller and wife Carolfae, Tipton, Lisa Tragesser and significant other Cale Martin, Tipton, Andy Tragesser and wife Michelle, Tipton.  He has one sister, Sandy (Tucker) Rice, Union City, Indiana;  four grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Anita (Tucker) Goins, and three brothers, Ray Tucker, Lex Tucker, and Victor Tucker.

A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Tucker presiding.   Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with an Elks memorial service at 6:30 p.m..
