Lyle A. Upchurch

Lyle A. Upchurch, 90 of Windfall died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 12:35am at Tipton Hospital.  He was born in Monticello, Kentucky on September 5, 1920 to Sam & Mary Florence (Bell) Upchurch.  Lyle married Eva Jean (Sholty) on October 17, 1952 and she preceded him in death on March 18, 1988. 

Lyle worked at Chrysler for 30 years, retiring in 1981.  He was a lifelong member of the American Legion in Windfall, and attended the Windfall United Methodist Church.  Lyle was a very creative and talented sheet metal and wood worker.  He was noted for riding his covered tractor uptown for breakfast and lunch.  Lyle served in the U.S. Army Air Forces in WWII. 

Survivors include one son, Boyd L. Upchurch and wife Cheri, Kokomo; one sister, Bernice Duncan, Tipton and one brother, Paul Upchurch, Tipton.  Lyle has five grandchildren, Brant Upchurch and wife Jennifer, Larissa Thatcher and husband Tom, Kayla Lee and husband Kevin, Brianne Upchurch and Austin Tebbe; four great grandchildren, Haden, Tyson, and Grayson Upchurch and Aiden Lee.  He was preceded in death by one daughter, Yonda Tebbe. 

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Roudebush presiding.  Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Windfall with military honors.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
