Rupert A. "Red" Watson

Rupert A. "Red" Watson, 82, Tipton, died at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at his residence.  He was born April 18, 1924, in Tipton County to Rupert A. Watson, Sr. and Elizabeth (Aldridge) Watson.  On June 21, 1946, he married Eileen Lewis and she survives.

He was a paint and wallpaper contractor.  Red was a member of the West Street Christian Church, Lions, American Legion and a former Little League coach.  He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and earned a Bronze Star during the Battle of the Bulge.

Survivors besides his wife Eileen include his children, Rose Marie Kurtz and husband Mike, Indianapolis, Kathy Jo Watson, Minnesota, Carl Eugene Watson and wife Jane, Tipton, Gregory Alan Watson, Tipton, and Judy Lee Watson, Tipton, a family friend, Greg Coverdale; brothers and sisters, Clarabelle Prifogle, Tipton, Bill Watson, Tipton, Betty Hinkle, Kokomo, Julie Miller, Tetersburg, Katie Smith, Tipton, and Wanda Woods, Frankfort; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Cugier, Allison Kurtz, Rachel Bauer, Audrey Watson, Erin Watson, Lisa Watson, and Cody Watson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Kirk Edward Watson, one brother, Robert C. Watson, and one sister, Mary Moody.

His funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 1, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Burns-Watson presiding.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton, with military honors. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
