Shirley J. Weismiller

Shirley J. Weismiller, 76 of Tipton died at 11:55 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2011 at IU Health Tipton Hospital.  She was born July 15, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri to Hugh V. & Cledith D. (Fritz) DeNoon.  Shirley had previously lived in Kirksville, Indiana and St. Louis, Missouri.  In 1957 she married Joseph Elliott and he died in 1993.

Shirley retired in 2007 as the office manager and dispatcher for Weismiller Trucking and had also worked as a paralegal.  She was a member of Heartland Church and had worked in their nursery in the past; was a life member of ABATE, past member of the Tipton Elks where she managed the club for several years and also a member of the Tipton Moose.  Shirley also served as a Notary Public, belonged to the Republican Party, running for City Judge in 1974, and was a secretary for Senator Stewart Simington of Missouri.

She is survived by her children, Bridget (Elliott) Perkins and husband Dennis G., Windfall, Harry Mitchell Elliott, Tipton, Lindsey Swank, Kokomo, Keli Lamberg and Cash Lamberg at home; her special extended children, Sharon Hinkle, Tipton, Jr. Weismiller and fiancé Heather, Tipton, Billy Weismiller and fiancé  Amy, Tipton, Karla Wolford, Tipton and Gary Smith, Tipton; granddaughter Korine (Kakasuleff) Abernathy, Windfall and her children Konner Kakasuleff and Kaela & Levi Abernathy.  Shirley is also survived by one brother Ronald DeNoon and fiancé  Andi of New Douglas, Illinois, and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Kelly Elliott and Peggy (Elliott) Lamberg.

Shirley's funeral will be at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Salsbery presiding.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton, at a later date. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Tuesday.
