David Whaley

David Whaley, 62 of Tipton and formerly of Desloge, Missouri died at 5:57 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  He was born on February 23, 1951 in Bonne Terre, Missouri, to Harold and Christine (Ramo) Whaley.  He married Lue Ann Copeland on October 2, 1971, and she survives. 

David retired from Chrysler Corporation, UAW 685 after 38 years.  He was a member of The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Park Hills.  He enjoyed being active in youth baseball for over 40 years, serving as president of the Tipton Babe Ruth and a member of the Tipton Baseball Board.  David was also a member of the Tipton High School Baseball Boosters.

He was a member of the Elvins Ionic #154, Masonic AF&AM and an honorary member of the Austin Lodge #128. 

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Lue Ann of Tipton; daughters Christina Whaley-Orcutt, Traci (Buddy) Williams and Tennille Whaley, all of Tipton; one son, Todd (Jill) Whaley of Ferdinand, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Taylor Christine Williams, Lane David Williams, Samuel Robert Williams, Katherine Jean Williams, Emily Ann Whaley, Claire Ann Orcutt and expecting newborn Ava Rose Whaley any day. 

Siblings include Richard (Dorene) Whaley, Park Hills, Mike (Pat) Whaley, Jackson, Missouri, Jim (Janet) Whaley, Desloge, Missouri, Luann (Mike) Petty, Meridian, Kansas, Dwan DeGrant, Farmington, Missouri, Delaine (Ronnie) Wood, Desloge, Missouri, and Darlene (Myron) Coleman, VanBuren, Missouri. 

Surviving in-laws are Joe and LaDonna Smith, Marty and Dale Schuff, Leslie Powell, Bryan and Pam Copeland, and Clay and Sandra Copeland.  Other survivors include his mother-in-law, Shirley Copeland, Park Hills, special friends Danny and Mary Sandra Daugherty, Park Hills and several nieces and nephews. 

David was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, Les Copeland and special parents Vernon and Queenie DeGrant. 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Carr presiding.  Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m.
