Wayne E. White

Wayne E. White, 89, Tipton went to be with our Loving God and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital.  Wayne was born July 26, 1920 in Prairie Township, Tipton County to Lawrence and Vida (Huffer) White who preceded him in death.  On October 26, 1941 he married Dorothy Helen Watson at the East Union Christian Church of Hamilton County.

Wayne is survived by his best friend and wife Dorothy, daughter Sonja White of Tipton, son Donald White DDS and wife Carolyn also of Tipton.  He was preceded in death by one brother William Donald White of Indianapolis.

He served in the Coast Guard during WWII.  He attended Butler University and was a graduate of mortuary science in Indianapolis.  He worked as an embalmer for various mortuaries upon graduation.  Following, Wayne worked at the Chrysler Transmission Plant in Kokomo for 38 years and retired in 1992.  At the same time Wayne operated a farm in rural Tipton County.  He enjoyed being outdoors, traveling and spending time with his family. 

His friends will remember Wayne for his devotion to family, the twinkle in his eyes, and his never-ending smile.  His enjoyments of life, gentleness, compassion and caring were his examples of being a Christian,  As Christians, his family is grateful for his 89 years of life and understand we will one day be reunited in heaven.  For that we give praise, honor, and thanks to God.

His funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 25, at the East Union Christian Church with Rev. Rex Dunning and Jody England presiding.  Internment will be at the East Union Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral at East Union Christian Church on Friday.
