Sister Mary G. Wurm

Sister Mary G. Wurm (Norma Mary Wurm), 94, Tipton, Indiana, died at 8:10 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2007 at the St. Joseph Center in Tipton.   She was born October 27, 1913 in Attica, Ohio, the daughter of Lawrence J. & Eleanor (Gerhardstein) Wurm.

Sister Mary attended St. Stephen Grade School and Attica High School in Ohio and International Business College and St. Francis College in Fort Wayne.  After being employed in Fort Wayne nine years, she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Tipton on December 27, 1943, making Perpetual Vows July 2, 1950.

Sister Mary served as a teacher in Kokomo, Yoder, Winamac and Marion, Indiana.  She was employed at St. Charles Memorial Hospital, Bend, Oregon; Mercy Hospital, Elwood, Indiana, and St. Francis Home, Tiffin, Ohio; Bennett High School secretary and Parish CCD Coordinator at St. Paul Parish, Marion, Indiana.  Sister had lived at the St. Joseph Center in Tipton since July 1992.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. John (Rita) Carnegie, Van Nuys, California and several nieces and nephews.  Sister was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Wurm and John Wurm, and two sisters, Jeanette Meeker and Alma Ruth Wurm.

Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 28 at the St. Joseph Center in Tipton with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27 at the center with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.  Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
