Sarah Yeary

Sarah J. Yeary, 84, Tipton, died Saturday September 1, 2007 in Texas.  She was born March 7, 1923 in Tipton County to Roma & Velma (Freeman) Straley.  On November 20, 1941 she married Charles Yeary and he died July 4, 1981.

She was retired from Stokely-Van Camp in Tipton and had worked for Mayor Tom Balser and most recently at Ace Hardware.  Sarah was a member of Eastern Star, Tipton Home-Ec Club, Senior Citizens, Kempton Christian Church and the Tipton County Democratic Party.

She is survived by two daughters, Liz May and husband Bill, Bedford, Texas and Cyndy Darnell and husband Alan, Tipton; one son, Tim Yeary and wife Martha, Tipton; four sisters, Edith Bryd, Carmel, Wilma Snipes, Kempton, Carolyn Conaway, Tipton, and Helen Agnew, Kokomo; two sisters-in-law, June Yeary and Margie Thorp, Tipton; grandchildren Chris Smith and wife Kerri, Brice Smith and wife Tabitha, Aric Smith, Brian Hawkins, Milissa Hawkins, Stephen Yeary and wife Casey, and Angela Yeary; granddaughter-in-law Jodi Holmes; six step-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren-in-law, and 7 step-greatgrandchildren.

Sarah is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Bailey Hawkins, Riley Hawkins, Kylee Holmes, Emily Smith, Jacob Smith, Mya Smith, Adeline Smith, Emma Hawkins and Lili Hawkins.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Wilma Charlene Yeary,  one grandson, Brent Hawkins, three sisters, Inez VanBriggle, Mary Snow and Joan Scalf, and one brother, Sam Thorp.

Her funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Smith presiding.  Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Hamilton County. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with an Eastern Star service at 7:00 p.m.
