Mary L. Zauss

Mary L. Zauss, 88, Sharpsville died at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Alterra Sterling House in Kokomo.  She was born May 19, 1920 in Kokomo to Patrick & Veronica (Weber) Walsh.  On June 12, 1948 she married Bernard Zauss and he survives.

Mary was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Kokomo for over 61 years.  She graduated from Kokomo High School and attended Indiana Business College.  Mary worked for Stellite in Kokomo and worked to support the WWII effort and later worked at Tri-Central in the bookstore.  She moved to the Zauss family farm to raise a family, and become a partner in the farm.  She enjoyed life on the farm, weekends in Brown County, preserving produce, teaching grandchildren, and spending time with her beloved husband.

She is survived by her husband Bernard, one son, Kenneth Zauss of Waldron, Indiana; three daughters, Patricia Beck of Sharpsville, Rita Jackson of Mitchell, Indiana and Rosemary Bolte of Brown County.  10 grandchildren Christy Kirtley, Matt and Adam Beck, Anna Gibson, Ben Jackson, Allyson Baughman, Emily Colpi, Laura Bossingham, Clint and Klye Wylie; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers; John Walsh, Detroit, Michigan and Michael Walsh, Kokomo.  She was preceded in death by three sisters.

Funeral services will at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Kokomo with Rev. David Hasser presiding. Burial will follow at St. Johns Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton and Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. A Rosary service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
