Allen Cain

Allen Cain, 83 of rural Tipton County passed away at 11:42 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at his home. Allen was born at home in Tipton on July 11, 1940 to Robert Sherman & Julia Mae (Stunkard) Cain. On January 6, 1961 Allen married Mattie Elizabeth Kimbrough and they celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Allen had retired from Chrysler in Kokomo after 27 years and was also a farmer. He had been a member of the Kemp United Methodist Church. Allen was a woodworking craftsman and loved working in his woodcraft building where he built bird houses and doll houses. Allen served in the US Army from 1958 – 1960.

Survivors besides his wife Mattie include three children, Judy Dixon and husband Mike, Pendleton, Beth Ford and husband Glenn, Hoschton, Georgia and Vicky Boyd and husband Kris of Columbia, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Darrin Ford, Devon Boyd, Cody Ford, Keegan Boyd, Sam Dixon, Alyssa (Ford) Carter, Kolby Boyd and Sarah (Dixon) Hudson. He also has two great-grandchildren, Nolan Ford and George Dixon and several nieces and nephews.

Allen was one of 12 children and he is survived by four siblings, Bill Cain and wife Carol, Florida, Rae Kirk and husband Mike, Texas, Ann Reeves, Florida and Harry Cain, Illinois. He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Betty Sue Cain, Chad (Charles) Cain, Robert Cain, Jr., Carl Cain, Lou Purvis, Kay Cain and Connie Quillman.

Private family services will be held for Allen and he will be buried in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is assisting the family with Allen’s arrangements. Condolences for Allen’s family may be left at www.young-nichols.com.
